"Carefully Taught: Moving through Shame, Embracing Authenticity"
~ Craig Rubano
November 15, 2015

As children, we are born wired for relationality, eager to interact with others ... and then acculturation happens. Rather than being taught to live into our full authentic selves, we are instead taught that to stay in relationship with our families, our races, our ethnicities, compromises will have to be made. We become complicit in systems that wound and devalue others. Our selves get split off, leading to shame, and to the many ways of covering that shame. What “price” of shame are you paying in your life? How have built-up resentments hindered your ability to stand up for your personal dignity? How can you and I regain our selves so that, together, we can stand alongside those who are “othered”?
